Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) is the Sport’s governing body for Karate in Nigeria
It is the karate umbrella body for all karate organizations (NGOs), state and karate practitioners/stakeholders in Nigeria. It is the sports Federation sanctioned by the Nigerian National Sports Commission and the representative for this sport in the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC).
International Competition
Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) is a member of the African umbrella organization Union of African Karate Federation (UKAF) as well as the World body for Karate, the World Karate Federation (WKF).
On the part of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) is the only Karate Association authorized to send athletes to the Olympic Games.
The KFN was established for the development of Karate in Nigeria in the year 1992. By then, is was called Karate Association of Nigeria (KAN).The name was changed in the year 1996.
The Karate Federation of Nigeria equips karate teams and individuals in Nigeria for continental and world championships including Olympic tournaments as well as offering quality training skills to karate Coaches/Athletes/Officials for a better performance in the country.
Nigeria with a population of about 200 million and 36 states plus the Federal capital territory Abuja has Karate in virtually all the states of the federation.
